Gear up for your round with breakfast at the OST Restaurant, an old joint with shrines to John Wayne, then consider Busbee’s Barbecue (830-796-3153) for oak-smoked meats and corn on the cob for lunch. Afterwards, stroll the streets for live music and wander into legendary Arkie Blue’s Silver Dollar Saloon, a basement honkytonk with sawdust floors made for dancing. George Jones once performed once at the Cabaret Cafe and was booed off the stage in a drunken stupor. Dude ranches, fishing, and hunting are abundant in the area. Take the scenic drive (long way) to Kerrville through Medina and enjoy the unbelievable views along Hwy. 16, ordrift in the gin-clear, lazy waters of the Medina River.
