Lost Valley was developed in the 1940s and originally opened as a 9-hole course, with an additional nine added in the 1970s. This is a fun, basic course with wide-open fairways, void of major difficulties. The front nine, more of a traditional layout, features old oak trees, flat, basic greens, and a classic Hill Country feel. Hole 3 is particularly tough on the front because of the lake around the green.
You can tell that the back nine is newer, as it’s a bit more difficult with its undulating greens–it’s more of a links-style layout. Water comes into play on the 200-yard, par 3 No. 14, and you’ll also need to watch for the 615-yard 17th hole. Fortunately, the finisher provides the chance to score well, as it’s only a 310-yard par 4.
Getting there : From San Antonio, take Hwy 1604 south to Hwy 16. Turn west and travel for 35 miles, where you'll see the course on your right.
