With fairways lined with oak and pine trees, and enough water and sand hazards to make the day interesting, Goldthwaite’s muni track is a nice place to work in a quick round. The course features small greens with tricky undulations.
The 333-yard 5th hole is a good birdie opportunity, as is the short, par 3, 128-yard No. 8. The par 4s are of standard length, ranging from 333 to 382 yards. Good drivers will spend their day hitting short irons into the tiny greens.
Getting there : From Austin, take Hwy. 183 north for 100 miles to Goldthwaite. On Hwy. 16 turn south and drive 3 mile south to the course.
