Centrally located about 130 miles from Houston, Austin, and Dallas, Hilltop Lakes is a retirement and resort community built around five lakes, with a variety of outdoor recreation available in addition to the golf course. The community started out as a ranch back in 1961, but was sold in the late 1990s to property owners.

Because of its out-of-the-way location, Hilltop Lakes is one of those places that you’ll visit for the full-weekend, rather than a quick pass-through. The resort offers three lodging options with the Mirror Lake Inn, the Hillside Villas, and a campground. Hilltop’s Overlook Dining Room has been recently renovated.
