Junction
Elevation : 1,742
Population : 2,696
Surrounded by hundreds of natural springs, Kimble County has more
flowing streams than any other Texas county, earning it the moniker
“Land of the Living Waters.” The pristine little town
of Junction serves as the county seat of this sparsely populated
area, and is nationally known for the production of wool and mohair.
Junction also serves as a hub for regional hunting and fishing activities.

NOTES
Take advantage of the beautiful Texas scenery along US
377 southwest along the South Llano River, particularly the rest
area overlook 22 miles south. Heading north on US 377, you’ll
run into the venerable London Hall (915-475-2921), with its large
stone fireplace, cozy bar, pool tables, and shuffleboard. Supposedly
there’s been a dance here every Saturday night for a hundred
years or more. Junction offers a few great dining options. Coopers
Bar-B-Q & Grill (915-446-8664) does it all and specializes in
cabrito, and the Gonzales Cafe (915-446-4202) is the place for cold
Carta Blancas and nachos after a day of hunting, fishing, and golf.
Also don’t miss a meal at Lum’s (915-446-3541), the
spot for barbecue-deli fare on the patio. Reserve your rooms at
either the Shady Rest B&B (915-446-4067) on 11th St. or the
South Llano River B&B (915-446-3609).
