Lago Vista sits on a bend in the Colorado River just north of Lake Travis, about a 30-minute drive from Austin. Developed in the 1960s as a lake resort area, the area has grown into a popular golf destination, especially since the beautiful hills around Lake Travis create the perfect setting for spectacular golf.

More Golf

The Marshall Ranch Golf Club, a private club scheduled for a membership of just under 400, is scheduled to open sometime in the summer of 2003. The club will feature a Gary Player designed, 7,252-yard par 72 layout on the north shore of Lake Travis, complete with 200 foot elevation changes and 600 yard holes. Should be a stunner, as Gary Player apparently has plans to build a home on the 8th green.

Make it a weekend on the lake by reserving rooms with the golf packages offered at either the Shores at Lake Travis (800-438-6493) or the Travis Lake Resort (866-525-3386). Both offer full-service dining and numerous non-golf activities, including guided fishing trips.
