The old-timers who chose the name of Mart imagined the town becoming an important hub for commerce. They missed that prediction though, and not many folks outside of Waco know much about this rural community.
Golfers will be glad to find the tiny town of Mart while exploring the back roads east of Waco. In the midst of cattle, farms, and ranchlands lies the unique Battle Lake Golf Course, an outstanding facility and definitely the primary reason to put Mart on your list of Texas golf excursions.

There’s one motel in town, the Western Motel (254-876-2412), but most stay in Waco. You can count on a solid meal at the Lighthouse Cafe (254-876-2606), the best place for lunch before you head back to town.
