Seguin
Elevation : 520
Population : 21,719
Tidy and tree-shaded, Seguin is 30 minutes west of San Antonio
and equidistant from the coastal ports of Houston and Corpus Christi.
Ancient oaks, some of which are have historical names and are estimated
to be 1,000 years old, line the streets, and pecans are a major
cash crop for the community. South of town the beauty of the community
is enhanced by the green waters of the Guadalupe River. Max Starcke
Park is one of the finest in the state for its size and home to
the only public golf course in Seguin.
Seguin Golf Courses :
Notes
Look for the old bar downtown called The Oak
to take in the local flavor of Seguin, as well as a few games of
pool. The place to eat is El Ranchito, where sloppy
enchiladas go well with Mexican cervezas. Shop for macho cowboy
garb at the huge D&D Farm & Ranch. Note
the numerous concrete buildings, dating to the 1880s, that once
gave Seguin the name “Cement City.”
