Rayner Ranch Golf Club
The golf : Formerly known as Rebecca Creek Golf
Club, Rayner Ranch is a back-to-basics country course that has improved
dramatically since the new ownership took over. The tee boxes have
been redesigned and resodded, and several greens have been improved.
New cart paths have been installed and the clubhouse and pro shop
have been totally renovated.
Located near Rebecca Creek and Canyon Lake, the course is surprisingly
void of water and bunkers, but is tight enough to cause problems
if you’re spraying the ball. The layout is carved out of the
Hill Country, and the rolling fairways are lined by oak trees. Slicers
will fair well here, since there always seems to be room for error
to the right.
No. 3 is the rated the most difficult, a 552-yard dogleg left par
5, but the 18th is probably more challenging: a long par 4 with
a long iron or fairway wood approach to a green fronted by a large
body of water.
The staff’s attitude reflects the club’s bright future.
Everyone is friendly, and you’ll always see the beverage cart
rolling around the course. For the price, this out-of-the way course
is definitely worth a golf road trip.
