Created as a tribute to Texas' battle for independence, The Battleground is more of a links-style course that is burdened by the wind and tricky because of the abundance of water (14 holes). Despite its links flavor, the fairways are narrow, and they're lined by thick rough.

This 9-holer is only open to Occidental's employees-a seemingly tight-knit group that takes a lot of pride in their golf course. A ditch runs through the course to allow for drainage, presenting the primary hazard on what is generally a very basic, user-friendly course.
