WARNING! This is ON Fort Hood...
You have to get a visitor pass from the visitors center before you can enter the base. That line could take up to 30 minutes, so give yourself enough time to get that done before heading to the course. That pass is good for 3 months. As for the course, it's worth playing. It can be challenging if you don't have GPS or course map. Plenty of blind shots at times. The front is harder than the back with some very tight windows to hit into, and large trees to navigate.
Great course for the price.
The greens here are probably the fastest greens I’ve ever played on. The course is challenging but fun, especially for the price. We’ve played 3 times now and our longest round was 3 hours and 20 minutes.
Great!
Great course for winter conditions staff was very friendly and helpful. Greens were good and very true! Layout was challenging! Driving the ball straight is a must! I will be back! Thanks
Please update the new layout!
I used to play all 27 holes when I was stationed at The Great Place but they have closed 9 holes. Some from two of the three courses so the Apps (Grint and 18 Birdies) need to get the new layout correct. But we enjoyed our round, the courses were in good shape.
Great bang for your bucks
Fort Hood has one of the best courses around for the price. This course can punish the best golfer if you are not careful. Great for building confidence in your game.

Great place to play
I was fortunate enough to play all three 9 hole course while visiting my family stationed at Ft Hood. The course is laid out from 3 courses: Panther Claw, Armadillo Hills & Deer Run. Each is a bit unique. Course is a bit short for my taste but fairways and greens are kept very nice. The course is a bit tricky to navigate, seems like it was a very ad hock build, can find yourself in the path of someone's drive so heads-up all the time. The facility is very well maintained and the staff is OUTSTANDING!!
Probably the most challenging of the nine holes on Fort Hood.
The Courses of Clear Creek are wonderful. I thoroughly enjoy playing any of the nine hole courses on post and would recommend them to anyone. Armadillo Hills is probably the most challenging of the nine holes. The number one tee is a short par 4 that you can reach the green in one if you hit your drive right. Number 3 is a challenging par 5 with water in the middle that requires laying up or hitting a perfect drive. Number 6 is another long par 5 with a split fairway. Number 9 is a par 4 that requires laying up and hitting a long iron to the green. The staff at this course are very friendly and you can tell they enjoy what they do. The course is well maintained with almost perfect greens on every hole. I recommend this facility to anyone looking for a nice course to play for a decent price.
A fairly easy nine holes with unlimited fun.
The Courses of Clear Creek are wonderful. I thoroughly enjoy playing any of the nine hole courses on post and would recommend them to anyone. Panther Claw is probably the easiest of the nine holes. Number 8 is a short par 4 that you can drive the green in one if you hit a well aimed drive. The other 8 holes are pretty much your basic holes with a few challenges here and there. The staff at this course are very friendly and you can tell they enjoy what they do. The course is well maintained with almost perfect greens on every hole. I recommend this facility to anyone looking for a nice course to play for a decent price.
A fun nine holes with beautiful surroundings.
The Courses of Clear Creek are wonderful. I thoroughly enjoy playing any of the nine hole courses on post and would recommend them to anyone. Deer Run is probably the most beautiful of the nine holes. The number one tee is a tricky par 4 with a dogleg to the left that requires laying up or a well aimed drive. The staff at this course are very friendly and you can tell they enjoy what they do. The course is well maintained with almost perfect greens on every hole. I recommend this facility to anyone looking for a nice course to play for a decent price.
