Named after the Indian word for "swamp land," Atascocita rolls around the shores of Lake Houston and features three 9-hole courses. The golf here is of good quality, and the course has a bit of character with some palm-tree-lined fairways.
The Shores Course offers a few more uneven lies at it rolls through the hilliest part of the property. Like Pinehurst, its opening hole is perhaps the toughest: a 555-yard par 5 that is particularly mean into the wind. This track is probably the toughest of the three, with long par 4s and a 220-yard par 3 (No. 8).
The Pinehurst Course tips out at 3,238 yards and is mostly straightaway. Although there are several 400-yard-plus par 4s, the most difficult rated hole is the opener, a 385-yarder. This par 35 nine-hole course only has one par 5: the 502-yard No. 5.
