Arlington
Elevation : 616
Population : 306,497
In the 1840s Arlington attracted farmers, who were drawn to the
area’s fertile blacklands and sandy loam watered by the Trinity
River and its tributaries. However, the area didn’t truly
open for white settlers until the Indians were defeated at Village
Creek, near the site of Lake Arlington. The train came through,
Dallas and Fort Worth grew exponentially, and the rest is history.
Today the city is home to over 300,000 residents as well six regulation
golf courses.
