North Texas Golf Center

The golf : Not many know it’s there, but in the floodplains west of I-35 there is a little gem of a lighted 9-hole track, complete with $1 beer nights and a full practice facility that’s the absolute best way to tune your game for weekend rounds. The course is kept in immaculate condition and presents just the right level of difficulty for short iron work. The holes range from around 65-135 yards, depending on where the tees are, and the winds can pick up to make things more difficult. Out-of-bounds comes into play on a few holes, but water isn’t in play unless you crush irons way over the green on holes that back up to the small irrigation lake that borders the course.

The best hole is No. 9, a deceptive 130-yard hole that can play longer if they place the tees back on a peninsula like the area near the lake. The green is somewhat elevated and bordered on the left by a huge bunker, creating an almost island-like look.

In addition to the course, the facility is the home of The Golf Institute golf school, which provides classes, clinics, and individual instruction.
