Ennis

Elevation : 548
Population : 15,902

Ennis, another former railroad community that dates back to the late 1800s, is located on I-45 about 20 minutes south of Dallas and is known as “The City of Bluebonnets.” The town has an economy based on railroad and cotton, with over 150,000 bales ginned in 1920, eventually earning the moniker “Where Railroads and Cotton Fields Meet.” Industry has worked its way into the economy, and the town is also somewhat of a bedroom community to Dallas and its southern suburbs.

Notes
Try the Woodcreek Cafe (555-555-5555) o r for margs and beers, track down Don Jose’s (555-555-5555). Marsala’s (555-555-5555) offers good Italian grub. If you’ve had too much to drink, buy yourself a night at the Quality Inn (972-875-9641) or Best Western (972-875-3390). Traveler’s tip: Ennis is a bowling-alley kind of town, so make a night of it and splurge on some smooth lanes.
