Fort Worth

Elevation : 670
Population : . 491,801

Dallas’ diminutive sibling is long called Cowtown for its rough and tumble past when outlaws and gamblers gave live to the town’s moniker of “Hell’s Half Acre”. Sam Houston said the west began here, and you can sense that when you drive through the huge ranch spreads west of town into Fort Worth.

As for golf, some might argue that Fort Worth is Texas most historical golf destination, famous for Marvin Leonard and John Bredemus’ Colonial Country Club, and for old farts like Dan Jenkins.

Notes
Cowtown’s last gunfight occurred in 1887 in front of the White Elephant Saloon (555-555-5555), and you can still have a beer and talk smack there today. Nearby are Sundance Square and the historic Stockyards area, both popular for shopping, dining, and carousing. Turista’s might be more interested in Billy Bob’s (555-555-5555), “the world’s largest honky-tonk”, but the cultured know to plan ahead and find out if the likes of Lyle Lovett are entertaining at the venerable Bass Hall (555-555-5555).
