Greens were in great shape!
Great price and the course was a good layout. One of the public gems that you must play if your in Fort Worth.
This is a very old and very short course
This is a very old country club that has opened itself up to public play. The members are few and the funding reflects that but they do continue to keep it up. It's only about 6100 yards from the tips and has some fun holes. It has 5 par 3's and four par 5's. All of the greens are elevated and hard to hold. For the money it's well worth it.
Open Fairways
This course is wide open, which is great for novice golfers. There isn't a lot of rough, and the holes aren't too tough to navigate. The greens are small, but playable.
Lots of history but greens are in bad shape
The course has great history with former members being Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan, but the greens are in bad shape. Course plays good, but the greens add strokes.
This course has some unoque par threes
I enjoyed this course very much. This was my first time at Glen Garden. There are only two things I would like to see to make this better, there should be a map on the score card for first timers and the Greens need some attention, but an overall great day .
Had a great time, shot a good score better than usual for me. Relaxing stress free easy track, helped make the round enjoyable.
Great value for a Sunday afternoon green fee. Very receptive staff greeted me at check in. Greens are small and not as good as reviews I read about them but some better than the rest, fairways about the same as I read which was not great but I've seen and played worse. The back nine par 3's were fun and challenging especially the long 240 yd. one, the uphill 200+ yd. one, and the picturesque 160 yd downhill one. Overall the course was good for my level of play and I enjoyed playing here.
Fun, Family course
The course is short and well maintained. The greens have not come in yet and are very bumpy. Fun course, very few hazards.
Great Value
Played today (4-24-13) and the course was in great condition. The pace of play was great. We didn't have to wait on any tee, nor did we have any groups pushing us. The teeboxes were well maintained and were fine for putting tees in the ground. The fairways were okay, I did have a few lies that I improved in the fairway because they were sitting on just plain dirt, but those spots are far and in between. The greens were in really good condition, rolled smooth and had a good pace to them, about an 8 or so. Bunkers were nice and raked and easy to hit out of. Overall, this is a nice little gem to go play once in a while. For the value, you can't beat it.
Great deal if you find it for less than 20 bucks
Super easy course and layout. Getting what you pay for here. Lots of green healthy grass in the fairways. Greens are small but lots of approaches around 100 yards so its good practice for the short game. Greens could use some improvement but definitely playable.
Spirit of Ben
This has become my favorite course in Fort Worth; the staff are great, the course is always maintained and very user friendly and I swear sometimes when you sink that 20 foot putt or chip in for birdie you can feel old Ben Hogan's Spirit there. Great job Glen Garden!
Never again
The marker on the 1st tee box claims that Hogan and Nelson were members here. If that is really true....It sure has gone to pot since they were members.
I find it very difficult to believe that people actually pay money to be a member at this club in the current condition it is in. In short, terrible. The only thing missing here are the goats.
I had a very very good time
I'v got very happy time with my wife and good neighborhood with good price.
the par 3 are fun
We try to go once a week. It's a fun course and it is very close to work.
Not extremely long but holes are challenging
Traps and greens well maintained. Unfortunately played alone behind 2 fivesomes. Played too slow to enjoy..
Great course for the family.
This course used to be a nursery for weeds, but it is apparent that management is making a genuine effort to improve conditions. I brought the family for a golf outing and we all had a great time. Biggest drawback - no refreshment cart.
Great! course Great deal!
The course was in great shape, we played during the winter. Imagining if this is summer. I will come back again. Great deal for golf, great peoples and staff. it was busy that Sat, but we show up 2 hours early, but the staff let us play as soon as we get there. The course has some easy holes but most of them is very challenging. Over the pond, up and down the hills, par 3 240 down slope and 190 up slope., Love it!
Great value
One of the better bang for your buck around the Fort Worth area. Small greens but wide open fairways. The layout seems as though it has been reworked and doesn't make since at times but after you play it once it doesn't seem so weird. Can be fun and challenging for a hacker all the way to a scratch player. With the size and undulation of the greens even if every drive is 100yds out as mine often was on the pars fours it was definitely not a given that you can stay on in two. I'll be back to play soon for sure.
Well maintained! Good value for area. Will definitely play again.
Nice layout and sufficient number of bunkers to make the course challenging. Narrow fairways but relatively forgiving rough. Overall very nice old style course that I will play again.
This course is fun
Glen Garden is a fun little course that offers a great price to the public with golfnow, yet you get kind of a country club feel.
