Pecan Valley Municipal Golf Course
The golf : The old Pecan Valley muni has evolved
over the years as the successful culmination of work between the
Army Corps of Engineer, the city of Fort Worth, and the Tarrant
County Water Control District. When the city sold the old Worth
Hills Golf Course to Texas Christian University, they were able
to fund a deal to buy the 27-hole Benbrook Municipal below Lake
Benbrook.
The Hills Course was rounded out in 1981 by Dave
Bennett, who completed the addition to supplement this shorter,
more wide-open course. The course is less lengthy now but water
comes into play often, including the 375-yard 2nd hole that doglegs
left around water.
The River Course, the older of the two courses,
was designed by Ralph Plummer, who made it playable for the average
hack. Although two of the par 3s play well over 200 yards (Nos.
6 and 7), three of the par 5s are under 480 yards.
