Timberview Golf Course
The golf : In 1963 Fort Worth’s Fouts family
opened Timberview as a 9-hole facility that subsequently became
very popular, providing impetus for an additional nine holes. The
design features flat, tree-lined fairways with water in play on
half the holes. The front nine is the more difficult of the two
sides, primarily because it’s not as open as the back.
Two par 5s stand out on the front nine. The 560-yard No. 4 bends
right inside of two lakes on the left side, ending with a difficult
approach into a multi-level, kidney-shaped green. The tunnel-like
517-yard No. 8 is lined by out-of-bounds on the left. In between
the two, hole 5 is enjoyable because it plays only 296 yards, yet
isn’t quite drive-able because the green is small and elevated.
