Z Boaz has two separate lives–the pre-World War II layout, designed by John Bredemus, that was shut down for the war, and the post-war Ralph Plummer design that has been a staple for Fort Worth hacks for ages.
Byron Nelson helped promote the opening of the course in a 1950 exhibition match, back when green fees were under $1. Unlike most Plummer designs, this one is short, playing barely 6,000 yards from the tips and featuring several drive-able par 4s. No. 9 is the feature hole, playing 547 yards and doglegging left with a pond guarding the bend.
Getting there : From I-30 west, take the Green Oaks Rd exit and turn left. The entrance is off Lackland Rd.
