Ralph Plummer designed Great Southwest Golf Club's course in 1965, incorporating three connected lakes into the layout. Dick Nugent came along in 1983 to lead a renovation effort that helped the course survive. The course has been known in recent years for its outstanding greens.

The best hole is the 223-yard No. 3, which plays downwind over water and is extremely difficult to stop on the small green. Interestingly, both nines end with very similar par 5s. Both are over 500 yards–No. 9 has water on the left side and in front of the green, while No. 18 features water on the right and in front of the green.

Getting there : From Hwy. 360 south, take the Avenue J/Brown exit and turn left onto Ave J. Go over the bridge and the clubhouse is .5 mile on the left.

I am a member (temporarily) here and I can tell you anyone can play here. It has quietly gone semi-private and anyone with cash can play during the week. The course is great if you stay in the fairway and hit the greens. The bunkers are huge and poorly maintained, full of rocks and very little sand in spots. It is far from a typical course that carries the Palmer name. The slope rating is way too high. Their business practices are questionable at best so read a contract carefully before signing anything. The greens are very large and undulating and right now are in excellent condition, but expect to 3-putt. There are no amenities - just golf.
