The golf : The former Grand Prairie Municipal Golf Course, which plays along the shores of Mountain Creek Lake, has been upgraded recently to give its loyal clientele a more modern, upscale golf experience. Sporting the new name of Prairie Lakes, the facility boasts new management that has implemented the course renovation, enlarged the clubhouse, and improved the pro shop.
Three nines help to handle the busy traffic, which numbers around 80,000 annually. Golfers come in droves to the Ralph Plummer design because of the outstanding condition. Water comes into play on 15 of the 27 holes, but the tree-lined fairways are generous even for the erratic golfer.

Getting there : From I-20, exit Hwy. 138 and travel north to the 1st traffic light. At about 1 mile, turn right on SE 14th St.
