Willow Springs is famous for having two sets of greens for each hole, used to maintain the best possible conditions depending on the season–one for the winter, and one for the summer. This track plays just over 6,100 yards and offers a full 18 holes to the golfing public.
The opening hole is the most difficult–it’s the only 400-yard-plus par 4 on the course. Nothing wrong with a bogey on this first hole, since it plays 446 yards. The back nine features two very birdie-able par 3s, as well as a 436-yard par 5 and a 280-yard par 4 that play back-to-back.
Other notes: They love greens here, so there’s two to practice on near the clubhouse.
Getting there : From Hwy. 287 (Decatur) north, exit Willow Springs and drive past the stop sign. Turn right at the first right after the stop sign, then left on Avondale Haslet Rd. The entrance is on the right side.
