Irving
Elevation : 470
Population : 191,615
Originally just a watermelon farm around the turn of the century,
Irving has surged into a thriving residential, commercial, and industrial
city bordered by Dallas to the east and the DFW Airport to the west.
The Dallas Cowboys play football here, and the scenes around Texas
Stadium have come to define the public’s image of Irving’s
place in the Texas landscape. Ultramodern Las Colinas is next door,
with its striking Williams Square and Mustangs exhibit. In terms
of golf, three first-class country clubs contrast with the extremely
hacker-friendly Twin Lakes municipal course. The TPC at Las Colinas
resort is best known among the country clubs since it has been the
home of the PGA Tour’s Byron Nelson Golf Classic since 1983.

Notes
The upscale Mustang Cafe (555-555-5555)
in Las Colinas is the discerning golfers’ first choice for
either lunch or dinner. Taking the MacArthur exit off of 114 in
either direction will take you to the fast food joints and chains.
Try the Cool River Cafe (972-888-4266) just of
MacArthur on Hidden Ridge. For golfers, it’s hard to pass
up a Hooters (972-659-9464), and this one is on
Beltline. We recommend that you stay at the TPC resort and go for
the spa and golf treatments, but the Omni Mandalay Hotel
(972-869-5511) is another solid option.
