Pushed as an affordable country club option, The Golf Club at McKinney is a newer 18-hole daily fee course that measures 6,980 yards from the tips. We mention “daily fee” with a bit of hesitation, as it’s clear the club would definitely prefer this to be a full-blown private facility. However, they will allow the public to play–preferably during the week and for a $60 green fee, which fairly hefty considering the other golf options available in that range in the DFW area.

The Lindsey Management Co. heads this one up via a joint venture between ex-NFL player Jim Lindsey and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

Getting there : From I-75 (Central Expwy), exit at Eldorado Parkway. Turn right on Medical Center and proceed south to the club entrance on the left. Access is also available from Hwy. 5.

I don't know what Bill Hobbs is talking about here. Obviously an angry & bitter old man who probably didn't get the senior discount. Bill do us ALL a favor and don't right reviews out of anger, the review is about the course, not the people.

Went in to play, before it unfortunately closed down. Talked to the entire staff, who were all extremely pleasant and outgoing. Had an ESPECIALLY good conversation with the GM, Brandon. A young, but very intelligent young man, who was wise beyond his years about the golf industry. Had wonderful ideas of how to get the course back on track and make The Golf Club at McKinney one of the top tier courses in McKinney and for the matter probably all of North Texas. From what I understood he came in with both hands tied behind his back, due to the ownership of the course, so he could never implement any significant changes. The main issue I noticed was the extreme LACK of working golf carts, I believe Brandon said they had a mere 35 working golf carts. THAT IS CRAZY! Considering they had 72 carts in the barn, how can anyone expect to make money if you have LESS THAN HALF of your carts up and running.

I loved this golf course, it may not have been the longest course, but it was definitely one of the most undulated. It's greens were always running at least an 11 or 12 on the stimp and broke like those of Augusta.

The course did have a few shortcomings, i.e. the bunkers were virtually useless and some of the tee boxes resembled fun-house mirrors, or moguls you would see while skiing. That being said the new greens-keeper, I believe Josh was his name, was magnificent in turning the course conditions around. He came over from Westridge and immediately you could tell that there was a new guy, who was hungry to show what he was capable of doing. The greens-keeper before had obviously given up hope, so the course was spiraling quickly out of control. Once, Josh, stepped in little changes begin to show and by the summer of 2015, the course was in the best shape I had seen it in since I started playing here in 2006. Trust me when I say there wasn't a course with better greens during the months of May through September.

It is extremely sad that the course did officially close for business as this year was probably the best year, in terms of conditions of the course, but the worst when it came to playing it for the first few months of the year. The rain we had has influenced the ENTIRE northern part of Texas golf and will be years before we see a full recovery.

I hope that someone comes in and buys the owners out, sinks in a good chunk of money and revamps this whole thing. This course is a diamond in the rough, but it will take the right eye and know how to bring it back to life.

Worse Golf Course ever played. The GM is very rude, has the personality of a tree. Would not let me hit off the grass at the range. But before I went to hit at the range, saw several guys hitting off the grass. Maybe it was his buddies or something. The GM that was there before was very nice. Went in pro shop one evening to see about ordering clubs, the guy behind the counter was the cart boy and didn't know what to do.

Nice, comfortable semi-private course. Greens were smooth and lightning fast. Playing here requires some strategy, since there is a lot of trouble (sand, water and rough).

Everyone we talked to, from the members to the clubhouse guy to the bartender were all super nice. We felt very welcome.

This is not a really fancy club, but it's a great track and we had a blast playing here.

My wife and I played this course for the first and last time yesterday. We are concidering joining a golf club and after receiving a pretty good deal off the internet to play this course we did. We received some quick instruction from the pro-shop guy which we didn't understand because he talked so fast. We found the front nine to be ok....holes were challenging, greens ok shape, fairways still recovereing a bit from the rains. The cart rules were 90 degree unless marked. On the 9th it was cart path only......and I sliced my shot onto the adjacent fairway. That fairway looked fine, so I did drive my cart onto that fairway. The next thing we know the pro shop guy had gotten into a cart and drove all the way out to the 9th to question if we knew who had driven onto that fairway. I told him I did.....and he informed me that it was cart path only and that he had told me that in the pro shop. I thought he was going to kick us off the course. At that point our round was not fun anymore. In retrospect, I should have just kicked my self off the course. I have played golf for many many years.....and have never had an experience like that. With service like that I would guess they don't need members that bad.

DO NOT PLAY THIS GOLF COURSE. I PLAY 2 TO 3 ROUNDS A WEEK AND THIS IS THE WORST GOLF EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. DON'T TAKE MY ADVICE FOR IT THOUGH. SEARCH THE INTERNET AND YOU WILL QUICKLY FIND THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT STAFF AND CURRENT MEMBER ATTITUDES. YOU KNOW THAT FAILED TO MAKE THE TOUR, MY DREAMS ARE CRUSHED, NOW I AM ANGRY AND WORK IN THE PRO SHOP ATTITUDE. AT THE GOLF CLUB OF MCKINNEY IT WAS BLATANT, UNMISTAKABLE, AND DISGUSTING!

SEMI PRIVATE CLUB, THE STAFF AND MEMBERS TREAT OUTSIDERS LIKE THEY ARE AT AUGUSTA NATIONAL INSTEAD OF (MORE REALISTICALLY THE VILLAGES). THE MEMBERS THAT PAY $150 PER MONTH ACT LIKE THEY OWN IT. THERE IS A REASON, THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO GIVE AWAY GOLF MEMBERSHIPS! FOR THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY ITS STILL NOT WORTH IT. I WOULD NOT PLAY THERE FOR FREE, I WAS MAD ABOUT IT FOR 6 HOURS AFTER THE ROUND. JUST PLAY SOMEWHERE WITH A FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE THAT IS RELAXED, AND A BETTER DEAL. YOU WILL THANK YOURSELF.
