Pushed as an affordable country club option, The Golf Club at McKinney is a newer 18-hole daily fee course that measures 6,980 yards from the tips. We mention “daily fee” with a bit of hesitation, as it’s clear the club would definitely prefer this to be a full-blown private facility. However, they will allow the public to play–preferably during the week and for a $60 green fee, which fairly hefty considering the other golf options available in that range in the DFW area.

The Lindsey Management Co. heads this one up via a joint venture between ex-NFL player Jim Lindsey and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

Getting there : From I-75 (Central Expwy), exit at Eldorado Parkway. Turn right on Medical Center and proceed south to the club entrance on the left. Access is also available from Hwy. 5.

My wife and I played this course for the first and last time yesterday. We are concidering joining a golf club and after receiving a pretty good deal off the internet to play this course we did. We received some quick instruction from the pro-shop guy which we didn't understand because he talked so fast. We found the front nine to be ok....holes were challenging, greens ok shape, fairways still recovereing a bit from the rains. The cart rules were 90 degree unless marked. On the 9th it was cart path only......and I sliced my shot onto the adjacent fairway. That fairway looked fine, so I did drive my cart onto that fairway. The next thing we know the pro shop guy had gotten into a cart and drove all the way out to the 9th to question if we knew who had driven onto that fairway. I told him I did.....and he informed me that it was cart path only and that he had told me that in the pro shop. I thought he was going to kick us off the course. At that point our round was not fun anymore. In retrospect, I should have just kicked my self off the course. I have played golf for many many years.....and have never had an experience like that. With service like that I would guess they don't need members that bad.

DO NOT PLAY THIS GOLF COURSE. I PLAY 2 TO 3 ROUNDS A WEEK AND THIS IS THE WORST GOLF EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. DON'T TAKE MY ADVICE FOR IT THOUGH. SEARCH THE INTERNET AND YOU WILL QUICKLY FIND THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT STAFF AND CURRENT MEMBER ATTITUDES. YOU KNOW THAT FAILED TO MAKE THE TOUR, MY DREAMS ARE CRUSHED, NOW I AM ANGRY AND WORK IN THE PRO SHOP ATTITUDE. AT THE GOLF CLUB OF MCKINNEY IT WAS BLATANT, UNMISTAKABLE, AND DISGUSTING!

SEMI PRIVATE CLUB, THE STAFF AND MEMBERS TREAT OUTSIDERS LIKE THEY ARE AT AUGUSTA NATIONAL INSTEAD OF (MORE REALISTICALLY THE VILLAGES). THE MEMBERS THAT PAY $150 PER MONTH ACT LIKE THEY OWN IT. THERE IS A REASON, THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO GIVE AWAY GOLF MEMBERSHIPS! FOR THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY ITS STILL NOT WORTH IT. I WOULD NOT PLAY THERE FOR FREE, I WAS MAD ABOUT IT FOR 6 HOURS AFTER THE ROUND. JUST PLAY SOMEWHERE WITH A FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE THAT IS RELAXED, AND A BETTER DEAL. YOU WILL THANK YOURSELF.
