Spring Creek Golf Course

Spring Creek opened in 2000 as the second golf option in Atlanta. Built on a farm owned by one of the local residents, there’s nothing fancy about this 9-hole public course. A few trees dot the landscape, but the layout is mostly wide open, offering simple golf with several interesting holes. Water impacts the design but there are no bunkers.

Two par 3s stand out on this 3,000-yard layout. No. 6 plays 130 yards into an island green, and No. 4 is the most difficult, playing 165 yards uphill; the green rests on top of a bank. If you miss the green, your ball will roll back down the hill, leaving another precarious approach back up the bank.

Other notes: Locals claim it “plays tougher than it looks.” The course serves food, but no alcohol. BYOB allowed.

Getting there : Located off of Hwy. 59 from Linden. At the four-way intersection you’ll see Orr Chevrolet. Continue straight and the road turns into Main. Cross the railroad tracks, then turn left at the Brookshires store. Drive by the Texaco and State Highway Department, then turn right at the four-way stop. The course is on the right side of the road.
