This longtime Lubbock favorite is an impeccably groomed course accompanied by a full-service facility. Its popularity stems not only from its reputation as a well-conditioned course, but also because of its vulnerability, especially when the wind is not blowing.
Playing only 6,400 yards, the elm tree-lined fairways have generous landing areas and a limited amount of water hazards. After finding the wide fairways, you’ll feel confident over your approach because the targets are large, bent-grass greens in outstanding condition. Golfers who find their groove will score well, just as Roland Adams did in 1969 when he shot the course record 59.
The 454-yard hole 12 is the most difficult: a par-4 dogleg left that features a difficult tee shot because of the trees looming on the right. The length of the hole inevitably leaves you with a monster approach, and, because of problems around the greens, ups-and-downs are difficult to come by.
Getting there : Exit 34th off of Loop 289, and drive a short distance and the course entrance is on the right.
