Room for Improvement
"Room for improvement" is putting things nicely. Staff, especially the marshall, was very rude. Course was in mediocre shape. Food and drinks were overpriced.
Go here if you want a mediocre experience on a mediocre course.
No water to drink on entire 18 holes !
So this is a cute golf course as it is so short ( to short ) at 5,300 yards for 18 holes.
Its a good course to play for beginner players because you can finish
in just under 4 hours and not a lot of hazards. The problem is I have never
played a course that doesn't have any cold water containers like this one.
This is a huge safety hazard and needs to be addressed immediately.
This makes it very unsafe for players when it is over 90 degrees with
very high humidity. My comment to my friend I played with as we are
about to tee off on 18th hole " well it looks like we are gonna make it,
we are still alive "
Bear Creek
I have always loved this course, it just seems they tend to lose average golf necessity every now and then.
Par is 66
A lot of par 3s. Had a fun time. Worth the money, Will come back.
struggling
the course is still trying to recover from flooding.. its going to take awhile perhaps not this year.. they are open ....but.... the greens are not really greens the grass is 3/16 deep like putting on you shag carpet in your living room... so the ball does not roll well .. pick a line bash the ball if the hoe gets in the way great if not then try bashing it again .... fairways are narrow ... carts are propane ... pace of play is slow if you just want to go hit balls and chase them go ahead ... you should walk the course bc you can pace your speed of play if you expect you move along your going to be disjointed its not like it use to be thats for sure but a year ago it was struggling... goat ranch at best .. but its a nice walk hitting a golf ball along the way thats all you can expect . definitely not worth $30 ... get a hot deal or go somewhere else. good luck!
Bear creek challenger course disappointing
Too many par 3 holes, small greens, bunkers played like hitting from a cart path, greens were uneven due to invasive grasses and uneven mowing. Very disappointing!
Getting better
They are coming back after all the flooding. Challenger course Is fun to play.
Bear Creek Challenger
Course was great. Pace of play was good, no waiting.
now I know
first time, wanted to, see what this short course was like. fairways a little bare, greens recently plugged and sanded, traps needed more sand, rough was rough but all was playable, local knowledge would have helped. enjoyed the round. missed seeing the gator
Enjoyed the round of Golf.
Pace was very slow because of many players ahead.
Altogether, good value for money.
Course in great shape!
Not the most challenging lay out in the world, even if the name is "Challenger". However, course was in really good shape, although the greens were a little bit long. However, for $25 I did not expect Augusta National, even if it is Masters week! Recommended for a quick round (there are a lot of part threes) or beginners. I got around the 18 in about 2:15. Staff, as always, was great!!
Nice Course
Took my sons out on a foursome hot deal to play this course. First time we have tried this course. The fairways were a little rough in some places but not that bad. Greens were a little rough due to golfers who did not fix the divot marks but that is not on the course staff maintenance. More par 3's than I am used to but it was alright. Layout is pretty flat so ball will roll farther. Not bad for the price we paid so I would play again.
Lost old glory
Onces good course, Bears Creek has never recovered from the April 2015 floods. They have closed 9 holes of the President's Course, leaving the only remaining ,18 Challenger Course @ par 66. They have done nothing to bring the courses back from the flood damage. Greens are OK but not so for the remainder of the courses. I do not recommend this course until they make a major financial commitment to bring it back to its former glory.
Bear Creek GC In Steep Decline
I've played Bear Creek a few years ago and the current version is nothing like I remembered. The facilities and course are both deteriorating. The only improvement was the pro shop. No putting greens were open. The course looks like only minimum maintenance is being done. Sure looks like it is on the decline to me. I will not be recommending it to my friends and do not plan on returning anytime soon. I now know why there are so many "Hot Deals" for this course - at $12 I may have overpaid!
