Sugar Hill Golf Course
The golf : Built atop the site of the former Doty Landfill,
which was originally covered by 4 feet of dirt and then molded with an
additional 2,000,000 cubic yards of earth, Sugar Hill is a mounded, roller-coaster-like
links-style track set amid the flatlands of Houston. The challenge here
is dealing with the uneven lies. In fact the hills are so prominent that
it's often impossible to see the adjoining holes. Water comes into play
on only 4 holes, and while they've incorporated the use of bunkers, it's
not as prominent a feature as you might expect for a Scottish-like track.
No. 2 is the number one handicap-a 406-yarder that bends right around
a lake and requires a perfect tee shot to set up for the approach
.
