If architect Tripp Davis can pull off what he accomplished at The Tribute north of Dallas, golfers traveling to Huntsville will be extremely pleased to make the trip into the East Texas pines. Davis' design features extensive bunkering, severe fairway undulations, and the good ole East Texas pine trees. Ravens Nest is the new home course for the Sam Houston State golf teams.

Getting there : The course is located on the west side of I-45.

Played this course for the 1st time. As another reviewer stated rates are deceiving when one looks at their website.
I'm a senior golfer and was charged almost $30. for 9 holes w/cart. Was told senior rate kicks in for 18 hole play only. Beware!

Played here due to Tripp Jones being the designer. Played the Tribute many times...nice!!
If I were Tripp, I would have my name taken off of Ravens Nest!

Sparse grass on fairways, not lush at all. Would not play here again unless I knew course conditions had vastly improved.

Course is descent. Rates on website very deceiving unless you go through whole website. I went there thinking I would play for $18 with senior discount. Me and my brother had to pay an additional $28.00 total for cart fee. Unacceptable won't be back. I could live with $10 total cart fee.

Course is run by the Sam Houston state professional golf management program. Course is in great condition most of the year and they are continually working on it making it better. Grounds crews are good and I have never had a problem on this course. Perfect course for a go,for who is trying to get better. Can be very challenging from the tips and very doable from the other tees. Course will make you hit every shot in your bag at some point. Good course to work on the driver too.
