Editor's Note: Course closed for business.
The Brooks AFB course opened in 1971, and has remained a 9-hole course ever since, but two sets of tees make this challenging, wind-burdened course play to a par 72, 6,700-yards for a full 18 holes. In addition to the wind, bunkers dot the hilly design, spotting the rolling fairways and elevated greens. Water comes into play on 6 of 9 holes.
No. 4 is called the signature because it requires a tee shot over water, and its length leaves you with a long iron into the green. No. 7 is a tough par 3, long and into a small, elevated green that slopes back to the fairway.
Getting there : From Downtown San Antonio, take I-37 south and exit Military Drive. Turn right, then follow the signs to the course.
