Silverhorn Golf Club
The golf : Silverhorn opened in 1996, patterned after
the successful Silverhorn track in Oklahoma City. It was designed by Randy
Heckenkemper with the help of PGA Tour veterans Scott Verplank and Willie
Wood.
The design incorporates elevated greens and a significant number of dry
creeks that criss-cross the fairways and front many greens-particularly
on the back, where the dry creeks come into play on just about every hole.
The opening hole is difficult because it plays 578 yards, and another
tough par 5 on the front is No. 6, a 542-yard dogleg left with a lake
in play on every shot. The next hole also skirts the lake, playing 175
yards to the green.
On the more wooded back, No. 18 is the highlight: an uphill, dogleg-right
hole dominated by a giant oak tree and one of the dry creeks that fronts
the green.
Other notes: Range balls are included with the green fee.
