        > Katy Green Meadows Golf ClubThe golf : Local boys Ward Stanberry and M.L. Scott
opened Green Meadows in 1968 as a 9-holer on their families land, then
followed a few years later with an additional nine. This old route is known as the East Course-it was re-routed after the
newer West Course opened, and now opens with a unique par 3-5-3-5 combination
that has a tendency to slow down play. Despite the opening 231-yarder,
the East is a short course with eight par 4s under 350 yards and no bunkers.
However, you'll need to ensure some accuracy off the tee, as not every
fairway is generous, and the mature trees that overhang the fairway will
grab errant shots. The par 5 No. 18 is the signature, featuring a tee
shot over a ravine and a sharp dogleg left.
The newer West Course is longer at 6,700 yards, but opens up quite a bit
and could even be considered more of a links-style track.
Other notes: The routing takes you by the old clubhouse several times,
so its generally convenient to pull in for a quick break to stock up on
food and drink or use the restroom. Also note that there are snakes on
the course, particularly around the water hazards.
