Reviews
I've played this coarse.
My wife and I have played many courses in our time with Golf Now and I can say this is by far the worst course we have ever played on.
Simple but great course
I love this course, very close to me, great bargin, and everyone is always super friendly.
I wish it were better
There's not much to say about this course. Not for a serious golfer but if youre learning and don't know course ettiequte then this is your place.
Great
Great golfing, green grass, golf carts are fun to drive.
The Price Was Right
This course was in pretty bad shape, although the greens were better than the overall course. The price was right for a morning hacking session. Not the place to go for a quality round, but cheap and not crowded was the appeal for us.
Getting Better
This course is not the best to start with. It is good for the price though. Course is getting much much better. There are still a bunch of bare rock and dirt spots but getting greener. The greens were actual greens all the way around and the sand traps had been raked for once. Overall a good experience one of the better ones thanks to all the rain.
Remember the alamo
This course closely matches my golf game. It's bad. Bad enough that despite the abundance of rain in Texas this spring the fairway was bone dry. It's like they've been praying to the pagan God of drought. I played a ball off the cart path and it was softer than the actual fairway
When I first stepped on to the tee box I wasn't quite sure what I was looking at. I asked my buddy for reassurance because I was convinced that I was looking at a horse pasture. But it was indeed a golf course.
After my first tee shot I found my ball and hit a beautiful shot towards the pin. I was horrified when I realized that I hadn't hit my ball, I hit one of the numerous rocks that are scattered throughout the fairways. Unfortunately, that was my best shot of the day.
You get what you pay for
It is a cheap course and is not in the best conditions, good for beginner and if your stingy hahaha.
Not bad for the money
Course conditions are bad, had to hit out of sand and rocks a lot but I paid $13 for 18 holes and a cart. For the price it's a good deal.
Don't go in expecting La Cantera and you'll be fine. The worst course to play on is still better than any day in the office.
Save your time and money
This is hands down the worst course I have ever been too. You could not pay me to go back...ever!
The course was in terrible shape
This has to be the worse course I have played at. The maintenance of the grass was very poor, the fairway felt like the rough, the greens were in poor shape. The way it's structured was confusing, guess there's a reason it's was $10.
Needs more grass
The price was right but got what we paid for. First time to San Antonio area so picked this course on a whim. Fairways had more than their share of hard packed dirt. What grass there was had not seen a mower in recent days. So tough to find a ball in many cases in less you were sitting on dirt in the fairway. It was a fun course which has nice potential with more care given to growing some grass.
Stickly for a beginner's beginner
Terrible shape. Fairways looked like difficult rough on most courses. Mixture of hard pan to tall grass on fairways. Lost two balls in the "fairway." Greens not smooth at all.
Course needs attention
This was my first time on the course but how could I pass us a $10 Tee off with cart (Website deal)
The course is quite compact. More then once the individual I partnered with and myself were trying to figure out which flag we were going for. The initial greens where we first shoot off from are quite nice, but your second and third shots have a very high chance of being found in dried dirt and rocks. The majority of the fairway has lost all grass. So both my partner and I would move our balls to a patch of weeds so ensure we don't damage the clubs in the hard ground. The individual at the counter was very friendly and smiled a lot. The driving range looked awesome but I did not participate in that. Honestly, if I want to just have some fun and not spend a lot, I would look for another deal and go again. Just with the knowledge that I am going to have fun and I will be moving the ball around the dirt if I feel it's needed. Also, for a Monday morning they had quite a few people in line waiting to go. We eventually got asked ahead of several groups and we were good to go.
cheap with the right deal...rough play on the front 9
Course is rough( like dirt and rocks) on the front 9 and parts of the back. but comparing it to normal prices at the golf course, this place is cheap so you can't expect much.
A JEWEL IN THE ROUGH
NOT THE PRETTIEST IN TEXAS BUT A JEWEL IN THE ROUGH. THE BEST VALUE IN SAN ANTONIO FOR THE THRIFTY GOLFER. A CHALLENGE FOR ANY GOLFER. TARGET SHOOTERS CAN STAY ON THE GRASS. BUILT ON LIMESTONE OF THE TEXAS HILL COUNTRY, A COUNTRY CLUB BOUNCE MEANS A HIDDEN CHALLENGE HERE. THE LOCALS AT ALAMO ARE SOME OF THE MOST FRIENDLY GOLFERS IVE MET.
BOUGHT A BOX OF BALLS THE SAME PRICE AS THE LOCAL WALLY MART.
I M GOING TO PLAY THIS ONE AGAIN FOR SURE THE CHALLENGE IS WORTH THA REPLAY. THIS COURSE MAY NOT BE PRETTY BUT I CHALLENGE ANY ONE TO BEAT IT
Cow pasture with all the extras!
I was warned about this course...but was in a pinch for time heading back to Houston. Would be a nice course if there was grass in the fairways. Not much signage from hole to hole. Plus a lot of deer & their droppings to avoid. The potential is there, just need someone that knows how to grow bermuda or a known fairway grass. Nice short course for beginners.
Worst course I have ever played.
Dirt fairways with clover scattered throughout.
Tee boxes just scattered sporadically thought pasture like areas
Greens spotted with wild grass clumps making it impossible to putt.
Place for beginners
Haven't played there since lowering my handicap 10 to 12, so being an easy course, thought I would shoot real low. Weather was perfect, but there is no fairway just dirt so I had a hard time hitting down on the ball expecting a divot. I def had to adjust and by the thirteenth hole I had, but it was very challenging for me. Not a course I would want to play regularly, but with the more distance I get it will help bring my game back down to the basics.
Fairway is in bad shape.
Nice location course in need of a major renovation!
