Private for the locals but open for the traveling hacker, the Oak Grove C.C., famous for its two-day Blind Bogey Tournament held every April, is an improving little redneck course that can entertain you all day long for the low, low price of $22. That investment includes one of the three old-ass three-wheel golf carts, so it’s even less expensive to attack on foot.

What you’ll experience is a gem of a course, highlighted by a relatively new sprinkler system and some challenging, but extremely fair holes. Two of the nine holes are short par 3s, routing 460 and 495 yards respectively. The shorter one is the best, extremely tight, densely wooded, and spotted by strategic pond that can be reached off the tee. The 495-yarder involves hitting over a pond on the second shot as well. The best hole is No. 2, a straight 350-yard par 4 that is tough because of its angled green.

Post round in the 19th Hole, make a donation to the club and receive a cold beer for the effort. Note that the area is dry, but they don’t mind if you bring your own cold beverages.

Getting there : From downtown Franklin drive north on Hwy. 56. Pass the Oak Grove Store 4 miles north of town and look for the course on the right hand side.

Course was a bit of a surprise out in the middle of nowhere. The layout is neat. Loved the two par 5's. Could not find any fairway yardage markers. Greens need a lot of work. Greens covered with poyano grass clumps.
