Scott Schreinder Municipal Golf CourseThe golf : John Bredemus stopped off here in the
1920s to open up Kerrville’s first golf course. Originally
private when it opened in 1923, the course was acquired by the city
in the 1930s and the course remained public ever since. Bredemus designed the front nine, which is highlighted by the classic 592-yard par 5. This is a mean hole, with water cutting into the fairway twice and an elevated green that requires a perfect approach. The hole has character, with water along the right and an ominous-looking cliff framing the view. Another notable hole on the front is the dogleg-left No. 7, with trees dominating the left side. The signature hole is No. 17, a 535-yard par 5. Water comes into
play on the second shot and then again on the approach to the green,
which is surrounded by water on three sides. A waterfall to the
left of the green adds a pleasing aesthetic. The details : 830-257-4982. 1 Country Club Dr., Kerrville, TX 78028
