The Ditto was Dick Nugent’s first course in Texas, when he teamed with Ken Killian in 1982 to build this very functional 6,727-yard municipal layout. Both challenging and fun, the course plays to a very hacker-friendly 6,106 from the middle tees, and allows the erratic high handicapper to build momentum with a front side that’s more wide open than the back. Nugent’s design is dominated by wet stuff, with only six ponds coming into play on just a few holes.
No. 3 is the first difficult hole because of the swirling winds, which make club selection difficult on this 185-yard par 3. The front side also boasts the signature hole (No. 8), a mean 567-yard par 5 that plays into the wind.
On the back side No. 13 is noticeable–a rare par 4 double dogleg that goes 427 yards and requires a long approach into a green surrounded by trees.
Getting there : From Hwy. 360, take the Brown Blvd. exit and go west. The entrance is on the right.
