Bridlewood Golf Course
The golf : It takes a while to work your way through
Lewisville’s Main Street to eventually reach the back road
route that rolls through the beautiful countryside west of I-35.
But once you’re finally able to see the lush fairways of Bridlewood
just north of the road, you’ll know it was worth the drive.
The course, designed by D.A. Weibring, features a spectacular
combination of links-style and traditional features as it snakes
its way through the flat farmlands and terrain that seem to be specifically
created for golf.
The front nine isn’t as rugged as the back, and its first
few holes feel more residential than the rest of the course. Two
holes stand out. No. 8 is all carry over water at 195 yards, followed
by the monster–a 463-yard par 4 that demands one helluva tee
shot to avoid the water left and out-of-bounds right in finding
the skinny fairway. Next comes a long, long approach that will have
you begging for a bogey.
