Some of the most memorable golf experiences don’t necessarily come from the ultra-expensive resort courses with perfect, pristine conditions and astronomical slope ratings. Often it’s the places like Wood Hollow, where the conditions are merely adequate but the wide-open fairways, large greens, and basic layout create the opportunities for career-low rounds. At Wood Hollow, which opened in 1991, you can play confidently and shoot for the pins.
A few long par 5s, including the 605-yard No. 10, help push the course yardage over 6,000 yards. Otherwise it’s average-length par 3s and short par 4s that await you. The best birdie opportunity is No. 13, playing 135 yards from the back and only 118 from the middle tees.

Getting there : From I-20 west to Loop 281, take the McAnn Rd. exit, then drive 2 miles and you'll run right into the course.
