Good
Great value good course. Only problem they still don't sell beer.
Usually a great course
...however on my latest outing it is in need of maintenance. Perhaps the recent lack of spring rain is taking it's toll on these links. There's barely grass on the fairways and the greens are about 50-50 grass/weeds.
Fun course, rough greens
This was a fun course, the staff was nice and helpful, and the rate of play was quick. The coure overall was in good shape except for the greens, they were fairly rough, but the rest of the course is maintained. Next time I roll through Conroe I will definitely stop by for another round.
Good course poorly maintained
I play this course many times and I've always enjoyed the challenging hill and valley features of the course. When I played the course yesterday I was pretty disappointed with the condition of the course. It usually doesn't strike you as a public course, but yesterday it felt like a municipal park type course. The fairways are really chopped up full of divots and the grass is almost nonexistent in some areas of the fairways which makes it feel like you're hitting from hardpan on the fairway. The greens are really bumpy, Sandy, and full of small tufts of grass, which makes putting more or less a joke. I got the feeling and they have not watered the course regularly in some time. I like this place. I hope they get together on the maintenance.
Fun with elevation
After playing many Houston courses with little undulation, Wedgewood was a breath of fresh air. From the first hole to the last, this course will keep you guessing on where to hit your tee shot. Some of the greens were pretty tough to read, but made it more fun than 2" left or right? Some of the course was in need of attention, but it was the first week of march and conditions were pretty dry. Overall, this was a fun course to play with a lot to see. I will definitely be returning.
Needs alot of attention
The course has the the potential to be a great course. The fairways were either hardpan or muddy. The greens were either eat up with weeds or they were nothing but mud. No marshal on the course to speed play up. The fairways were littered with divots and the greens were littered with ball marks. I would go back to this course if they could figure out how to "Maintain" a golf course. The layout and the setting of this course is one of the better ones I have played in the Houston area. Hills, water, blind tee shots, and plenty of trees make this course difficult as well as fun to play. Must be able to shape a shot to score well.
This course has unique features
Staff very helpful and friendly. Course kept up very well. I will be playing here again.
Leave the driver in the bag
This is a shot makers course. Although at times wide open it has a lot of dog legs and blind tee shots. The greens a re in great shape and moderately fast. Staff was enjoyable and concerned with your satisfaction. This is a fun course. Great course for the money.
What a wonderful layout and use of the natural landscape.
This was my first time to play this course so I had no idea what to expect. Upon arrival, the pro shop staff wasn't so courteous. They were very busy for them so she was a bit flustered. We had our tee time bumped by an hour due to a lack of carts. Once we were able to get on the course, our experience was wonderfully overwhelming. It was a very challenging course with a lot of elevation change and trees everywhere. The challenge with this course was to be a little more skilled at drive placement rather than to hammer away with the driver. Once we figured that out, we were able to enjoy our results. If you like to hit driver and pitching wedge every hole, this isn't the course for you. If you want a great golf experience, you need to play this course.
Course in excellent condition for off season time frame
We thoroughly enjoyde our visit to Montgomery Tx and the Wedgewood GC. Staff and course were top notch. Lots of trees, sand and water make the game very interesting. Price was thoroughly appreciated compared to prices back in Canada.
Too hard for most golfers, outstandinf staff.
Narrow fairways. Poor greens.Need cupsetter for all holes.Staff is outstanding.
Always a good value and I like the course!
The tee boxes are in horrible shape. The fairways and greens are always in good shape but tee boxes are really bad. Hard to find a level spot where you can get footing......almost like you are teeing off in a sand trap!
The setting is absolutely perfect for this area.
This course is always easy to book, challenging and fun.
Better than several of The Woodlands courses
Great time at this course. Even with the weather, course is well maintained. Great fairways, sand traps, and lakes.
Great value!
Hills, water, slopes, lots of good Challenges. Beautiful scenery, course well maintained.
Wedgewood on 12/24/12
This may be my favorite public course in the Houston area. It is challenging but reasonable. Plenty of dog-legs require some shotmaking. The greens are great. Fairways are soft and tree-lined.
This course is in very bad conditions
The tees are very bad as well as the fairway and the greens.
I will not come back to play this course again.
If you like dog legs...
For the money and value from this course, it is WONDERFUL! Lots of doglegs, blind shots, but a good course to test your shot making ability. Staff is great and very helpful, worth the drive to Conroe.
are a low or high handicap player this course can accomidate either one
The course for this time of year is in good shape and weather you are a low or high handicap this course can accomidate either one.
