Rockport Country Club is the best place to play in Rockport, an outstanding championship Bill Coore and Jimmy Demaret design that opened in 1983, and considered one of the best courses in South Texas. And while it is technically a private facility, their policy is to reciprocate with USGA members.

Coore and Demaret's layout rolls over very scenic terrain, with views of the coast and the accompanying wildlife. There is water on 12 holes and the fairways are dominated by huge bunkers, including one that stretches an impressive 400 yards.

The fairways are mostly slim and the dogleg holes are short, requiring precise shot-making. The course's signature is its phenomenal greens.

The best hole is No. 14, a 550-yard-plus eye-opener that requires numerous shots over water.

Getting there : From Hwy 35 north drive into Rockport. When you come to Traylor, turn left and it will lead you directly to the course.

The course needs some serious water help! Due to the drought the course is hurting! Way over priced and when conditions call for it, fees should be lowered. I guess sorting out the irrigation system would help if the course is so depended on the rain! Will not be back until we get caught up with much needed rain.

This golf club was suposed to be a privilage to be able to play and i was very disapointed in the condition of the course.especialy afetr paying $89.00 greens fee.. This golf course does not justify that fee.I have played many courses all over the united states and this is one that i will probably never try to play again.
