The description of the course is sadly outdated. Hurricane Harvey devastated the course and the holes on the bay side of the hiway were not rebuilt. What remains is a nine hole course accurately described by the course details.

I played it a number of times in Feb of 2023. It was in good condition and was a fun course with challenging greens.. Wind is always a factor, at least in winter.

Not a destination course, perhaps, but very enjoyable if you are in the area..

Over priced. Fairways were bare in many places. Greens were hard. Construction noise and damage around most holes on back nine. I've played this course frequently on trips to the area. Saddly this course's condition has declined greatly.

All I have to say is WOW! Prior to coming down I read all the reviews and was extremely excited to play. This course, staff, clubhouse and amenities did not disappoint what so ever. The rate I booked on golfnow was almost stealing. I looked around to make sure the Port A police weren't there!

All the greens rolled true to the line and fair in speed. I commend the staff for the hard work to 11 green from the spring breakers that damaged it. Let me know if you find them. (I'm here to help in seeking Texas justice.)

The fairways felt like walking on velvet carpet and the tee boxes were kept clean of debris. The new clubhouse and grill still have the new car smell and in wonderful condition. The architecture resembles the surrounding structures and stays true to that beach feeling.

However, since this is a destination course, I wish the website was a little more up to date with pictures of each hole with a description. (Virtual tour etc...) I know, I know that's ticky-tac but it would help in preparation.

Wonderful job by all! I look forward to playing again on Monday.

All of Corpus was rained out so I went to Newport. What a beautiful course! Rain or not, I'll go back the next chance I get. Expect the wind to always come into play (Corpus avg is 12 mph but was 20+ the day I went), and don't forget your mosquito spray. The fairways appear to be a little tight from the back tee box but if you use a good GPS you can see the best landing area. Miss the fairway and you're looking for your ball in the "natural" areas. Watch for snakes... The greens were in excellent shape and the entire course is very lush. Every shot is off of a good lie, provided you hit the fairway. I would recommend Newport to any golfer. However, considering the price, it could be a "hackers" nightmare...

The best course in the coastal bend. The fairways are always immaculate & the greens are best conditioned I've played...true & fast!
A little pricey but thats what twilight is for. I have played this gem 6 times & it always memorable.

Absolutely beautiful and perfect!! I've played there once a year for the past 2-3 years and every time I go I'm impressed. The golf course is amazing and is in immaculate shape! The layout is great, it's challenging because the wind is coming from different directions on almost every hole. I can't say enough about how well maintained this course is. This is one of the best courses in Texas! A must play!!
Comment to a previous review: who cares about the clubhouse, you don't play golf in the clubhouse! The clubhouse has no impact on the golf course.

Lush Beautiful! Must see to believe! When I played it the course was in tip-top condition. The fees are most reasonable. There was not a club house when I played in April 2011, but who cares the golf course was happening. The staff was most helpful!

The layout is great. MOST of the personnel understand the concept of customer service. As far as the course conditions, it was fair at best, with lots of green disruption and insect problems. The range is good with a putting and chipping green. Which, leads me to the first of my final thoughts. Charge to chip and putt? I would understand hitting range balls, but $10.00 and hour to use the putting green? I have played years of professional golf all over the world and this is the first time I have run into this practice. Finally, the head professional should really work on his customer service skills. He has the contact and communication skills of a Marine Drill Sergeant. Talking down to people and treating them as cash cows does not work in today's competititive world of golf courses. Too bad there isn't a quality golf course close to ND to make the management treat people respectfully. So, if you are willing to pay out the nose to play a great layout, you will not be unhappy with the course. However, you will be rolling the dice with the course personnel.

A great twilight rate allows you ample opportunity to hit range balls and then get wind blown on this links-style course. The hills are sand with local vegetation and yes, it's like hitting out of a sand trap in these areas. There's a Day's Inn located on the north segment of the course with decent rates - no frills but after your round, you'll be too tired to do anything but sleep.
