SACC dates back to 1907 and was designed by golf pioneer Alex Findlay, who opened what is now the back nine. Findlay's short design was lined by the big homes of the Alamo Heights area. He added the second nine in 1913, and the revered A.W. Tillinghast came along in the 1920s for some minor updates while he was working on Oak Hills Country Club. Other updates over the years include Joe Finger's work on the greens, and Jay Morrish reworking a few holes in the 1980s.
This beautiful old course is a pleasure, offering only the basics with gently rolling fairways and superb greens.
Other notes: SACC was one of the first in the nation to use golf carts (1946).
Getting there : From the San Antonio Airport, take Highway 281 south to Hildebrand. Turn left and drive straight to the course.
