The Republic Golf Club in San Antonio
The Republic Golf Club is one of San Antonio's newest and most highly acclaimed daily fee clubs of the last several years. The golf course was designed by Art Schaupeter in 2002, a relative no-name, but that may be one reason behind The Republic's unique look. It's set on the flatter side of the city in the southeast, and the course features wide fairways that are almost all tree lined. So drives slightly off line are fine, though anything well off line is in the woods.
The Republic Golf Club's fast Tifdwarf Bermuda greens put the short game at a premium. Some greens are especially large, too. From the back tees, the course plays 7,007 yards and hosts qualifying tournaments for the PGA Tour's Valero Texas Open, among other events.
There is a small but functional clubhouse, full driving range and practice facility.
