Land Park Municipal Golf Course
The golf : Landa Park is New Braunfel’s
most popular course. It’s consistently in good condition,
a great value with weekend fees under $30 with a cart, and a relatively
quick round considering the traffic. The other nice feature is that
it’s easy to score if you’re striking it well.
The course opened in 1939 as a 9-holer, and was expanded in 1969
when Leon Howard and Dave Bennett came through. The course is nestled
along the Comal River and is watered well. That fact, combined with
the course’s strict cart-path-only policy, keeps the fairways
in lush condition. This is also one you won’t mind walking
because it’s a flat track.
Water hazards come into play on several holes, and the Comal is
involved in the layout. The fairways are wide, but lined with trees.
The greens are small and undulating. The most difficult hole is
No. 4, a long par 5 that goes 553 yards.
Note that there is no driving range, so some head to Sundance near
Gruene for their warm-up.
