Shady Valley opened on Labor Day in 1959, and has matured into one of the best-kept secrets in DFW golf. Loaded with every kind of tree native to this terrain, and highlighted by pesky Rush Creek and other water hazards that come into play on 14 holes, this is a par 70 track that requires you to hit it straight.

Early in the round, the 526-yard No. 2 jumps out with a tee shot over water and out-of-bounds lining the fairway. Also on the front, Nos. 4 and 8 involve Rush Creek and are considered among the most difficult on the course.
Rest up at the turn and get ready for the challenging opening holes on the back nine. No. 10 goes 437 yards and doglegs to the right with water on each side. No. 11 plays the same distance and is squeezed by a narrow chute of trees. And there’s no forgiveness on No. 12, which requires the navigation of another dogleg right around water.

Getting there : From I-30 west, turn onto the East Chase Pkwy., turn left, and when you come to Pioneer Pkwy., make another left. Drive over to Park Springs Rd. and turn left again. The clubhouse is 3 blocks down the street on the left side of the road.

Terrible! 15 yard wide fairways with rough 6 inches deep to crappy/bumpy greens. Sand traps are hardpan. Can't believe anyone is still a member. Ever since Choi family took over club has gotten worse.

Wow I would rather go to the worst public course in Arlington than rather deal with this course. this is easily the worse private course I have ever been to and I have been to many. I'm not gonna lie but I didn't know greens could get this bad. It's like no one is even trying to fix them. Also there only solution to stuff is like "hey just put some sand on it and it will be fine". I will not be returning to shady valley due to the poor golf. The rough and even some fairways are literally just dirt.

Tom Smith's review if that is even his name is false and couldn't be further from the truth. The course is tough and if you don't know how to play it then there is much trouble to be had.

The staff is the best I have ever seen at a club and go out of their way to make the members feel welcome and accommodated.

The grounds are maintained very well and although the greens have has a tough year they are better than many other courses in the area.

The tee boxes are green and the chipping area is just fine.

The range picker works fine and the comments about over growth are flat out lies.

If you want to be at a great club with great people come to Shady Valley. If you want to be in the company of a condescending jerk than play with Tom Smith.

The greens are in horrible shape. I have never seen such bad greens. The fairways are dried up. You can be in the fair way and not have a shot at the greens so they do not keep track of their trees. Every single tee box is dead and in even. I can barely get a tee in the ground. The greens keeper is a straight up prick. He yelled at my son. The range has maybe the worst grass I have ever seen. The chipping green is just dirt. The employes are jerks. They have never said a nice thing to me. Half of the carts are broken. They studder and the brakes are gone. The grass around the club house is over grown. There is a broken bench on the course. Wasp in the bathrooms. No water coolers. The bunkers are never raked. The maintance people show up late for work and all smoke on duty and I am allergic. The range picker is broken so they picked the range in a normal cart and I hit one of the people. The range was shut down for 3 months cuz the greens keeper is lazy and doesn't like to grow the grass. I think they should fire the greens keeper
