Great drainage, Very nice course
One of the nicest courses in the Houston area. Very friendly staff.
Nice course
The views are very nice and relaxing.
The course is well kept and the greens are true.
The bunkers are more like hard gravel and could use some attention (or you could just stay out of them).
The discount on this course made it 43 from 46 for two.
nice layout
Greens had a little bare spots on outer edges on a couple hole's but were good around the center and flag area, not true roll but were rolling pretty good, fairways were a bit dry n brown ( which is to be expected ) August in Houston but had grass on them 1'st cut around green's are n great shape to chip or pitch overall great course will be back.
Good course for the money
Played at 2 PM, nice course for the money. Pace of play was great and very friendly staff.
Great layout, poor condition, not very friendly
I have to start by saying I got a great deal on a Golf Now Hot Deal, or I would have been upset. As it is, I paid what it's worth, $15. The greens are in relatively poor condition, with weeds growing throughout, and bare spaces on many. The rest of the course is just frayed, and the bunkers are pretty well unplayable. I find the frayed part acceptable for an inexpensive course, but not the bunkers or the greens. No wonder the place was almost empty on a beautiful (but hot, it's Houston) Friday afternoon. In addition the woman at the cash register was curt, not friendly at all. I have found this a couple times when I have Hot Deals, but I paid, they accepted, so I should get the same treatment as someone who paid full fare. I only saw one other employee, a woman in a cart, but she didn't speak or recognize me. Too bad, because it's a very pretty layout, lots of trees, and very few houses, so it feels like a real golf course.
Improved Greens!
Evergreen has always been one of my favorite courses as far as layout of the course - very pretty, challenging holes. The greens have always been a problem at this course as they have normally had weeds growing in the grass and sometimes no grass at all. However, the last two times I've played the course the greens have been very good. They are still very slow greens but they are in the best shape I have seen in a few years as the weeds are all but gone and very lush green grass now. They are very slow compared to other courses but now I look forward to playing this course again.
Not the course it used to be
I have always thought this course to be one of my favorites, but that is no longer true! The greens are no longer smooth and have weeds in them. The traps are hard dried sand(?) , if they have any sand in them. I hit into one sand trap and my ball bounced out of it onto the putting surface. No sand in it so to speak. It was worth the cheap rate but I will be leery of playing it again anytime soon unless money is spent to get the course in shape!
Great course
Friendly staff and great facilities. The greens were a little rough but great considering the recent wet weather.
course needs work
Course needs work. Greens are not playable. 50% Bermuda and 50% weeds... The greens are like putting in the fairway.... bumpy, no true roll. Sand traps are hard packed sand/gravel.... unplayable. This course needs a lot of money thrown into upkeep. Tee boxes and fairways are in good shape.
Course looks good
Course was in good shape, very pretty, not crowded on a Saturday, 40 minute drive from West Loop. The only issue was the mosquitoes were very heavy, especially near water and any bushes or high grass. Take Off and you'll enjoy it.
Greens.
Terrible greens. ...........................
Greens terrible.
Nice layout, terrible course condition
I agree with some of the other reviews, nice course layout but the greens and fairways are awful. I was unpleasantly surprised. Can't believe they play tournaments here.
Fair conditions for winter
We played the course to get my son ready for an upcoming high school tournament being played here. Course was not crowded and we played in three hours. Fairways we're in good shape, however, greens were pretty much dead. Barely any grass on greens, and would hit small patches that would make your ball jump. Bunkers had little sand in them, which made getting out tough. Some of the tee boxes had almost no grass.
Excellent Design
This is one of the best course layouts I've played. My only real complaint is the greens... need some TLC.
Nice Layout
The course has potential and used to be in excellent condition. Over the last few years, it has digressed. Its a nice place to play, but not for the price.
Hopefully Conditions Improve
I heard this course was a great value but after the 30 minutes drive there was left disappointed. We used a hot deal which was really cheap so I wasn't too bummed, but the conditions were poor. Fairways and greens were extremely brown and somewhat patchy. The layout is nice and in better condition would really be a lot of fun. I think it will take some work to get this course up to par though. We did see a bald eagle though which this course is known for having!
Well worth the drive.
I was very happy with the course and its condition. You can't go wrong playing this course for the money. There is not a dull hole out there and a few are as nice as you will find on any course. I would reccomend hitting an extra club on every approach. The greens are not perfect but putt quite well. Enjoy.
Evergreen Pointe
After hearing several bad reviews about evergreen I decided to play when I was in town, and glad I did. The course was nice and the greens where good, it was overall a fun course with a good amount of long holes. Lots of water which makes the course fun. The staff at the pro shop was extremely friendly and very helpful however at the bar I cannot say the same. The girl who helped us was extremely rude and seemed like she didn't want to be there.
Mosquitoes!!!
Mosquitoes were of biblical proportions. Quit after one hole.
Used to be really nice
Nice layout. The course used to really nice with very nice greens. Ever since the drought started a couple of years ago the course conditions went south. I think they stopped watering. With the recent rains the fairways have improved but the greens are still lagging. Some are OK but some are still spotty. It's a shame, I used to really like this place.
