NO GREENS
The course overall was fair with exception of the greens. They were nonexistent. Putting on the greens (or lack of) would be comparable to dribbling a basketball on the greens. They were nothing but sand. The price charged for this course condition is way overpriced. I nor my group will not play this course again until improvements are made.
I love the layout at this course!!!
It's a very nice course, but the greens need some work. One of the best layouts in the area. You can't beat the GolfNow deals for this spot. I love playing out there!!!!!!
Absolute worst greens
You know it's a bad sign when the cashier warns you that the greens are in bad shape before you pay. Well we decided to play anyway and he was 100% right. Almost all 18 greens barely had any grass on them and at least 4 or 5 are pretty much all sand. I'm not sure how greens could be like this in May. The fairways and tee boxes, however, are in excellent shape but when you putt and your ball takes 3-4 right/left turns on a 8 foot putt, it's not even worth the $21 I paid.
Good fairways but...
The courses fairways are in great condition, but there was no grass on the greens. Overall still a great experience and they allow two-domes off at prime weekend hours. Definitely going back.
Could have been better
While I have played this couse quite a bit, there is always new challenges. I will say that I was very dissapointed in the condition of the greens. Apparentley thay are getting them prepared for summer. It was seriously like putting in a sand trap which added probably and additional 6-7 strokes to my score. Most courses will give a discounted rate when the greens are being overhauled or at a minimum advertise this so you can make an informed decision when paying full price for a round of golf.
Green woes, but great layout
As first-timers on the driving range, the course superintendent warned us that the greens were "a little skinny." They, apparently, chose not to overseed this winter and there was precious little grass on the greens. All bumps. Horrible. That said, it's a fabulous course. Great fairways, nice layout, fair test. When they resurrect the greens, I will be back.
All It Needs is Grass and Sand
Nice layout. No grass on the greens...just sand. Traps were like hitting off hard pan.
Use Water and Fertilizer!
Greens were in terrible condition. Is there even a Greenskeeper on the staff? How about using some water and fertilizer? Very disappointed and no plans to return.
Sad
This course has always been a gem. Great value, and good layout. Unfortunately the greens are mostly sand! The fairways were in good to above average shape, but I will not return until they get grass on the greens. Very disappointed.
no greens
The course overall is great as always but right now the greens are gone. I look forward to playing there again in the fall. Hopefully everything will be back.
This course needs alot of work
This course the greens need a lot of work, almost no green at all, I waist a good day I could go and play onther course.V ERY Desappointed.tHANK YOU.
Relaxing, picturesque, layout.
Evergreen is always a consistently enjoyable round of golf. The course is quite scenic and it's challenging layout forces you to bring your game and use every club and shot you have in your bag. My only concerns with my last round were that the bunkers were like a paper thin layer of dirt and sand over hard pan. The greens were also a bit of a disappointment as I have seen them roll much smoother and truer in rounds past. But all in all, for the money, it is a great value and an awesome track to gauge your golf game against.
Course is fun to play with variety of holes
Holes have nice variety. Long if you get to the back tees. Near galveston bay with plenty of wildlife. Greens were a little rough as they were transitioning back from winter.
Evergreen
One of my favorite courses in the Houston area. The course is in great shape. Greens are in need of some help which is unusual for Evergreen.
Over priced and greens were not in good shape.
I feel like this course is over priced for the condition of the greens. I'm not expecting PGA conditions when I go to play a local golf course, but if I am paying $40 or more to play I would like the greens to at least roll a little true. The greens were mown correctly, even length and not a bunch of tall weeds, but there were pock marks all over them from the weeds that have obviously infested the greens. There were several putts I hit that jumped 5 or 6 inches off the ground from hitting a weed knot. Like I said, I don't expect perfection but I would not pay more than $20 to play Evergreen Point again for a good while. The rest of the course was in pretty good shape, about what you would expect, but the greens were terrible. And of course, bring at least a full can of bug spray because the skeeters are viscious.
Needs some work
Although I really like the layout of the course, and the staff is excellent, i was really dissapointed in the condition of the greens. Normally for the money this is a good course, not sure what has happened, but course conditions have gone down hill
Poor greens and bunkers
The greens are horrible and the bunkers have no sand and are no playable.
Yep, the greens are terrible. And the bunkers are rock hard with no sand. Wasted $30 and 4 hours.
Good Layout
Staff was extremely friendly and accomadating. Pace of play was excellent, as we almost had the course to ourselves. The course is fun, and in fairly good shape, but the greens are nothing more than green colored dirt. I suppose the winner has damaged the greens and they are starting from scratch. Overall, good corse that I would play again.
Great Layout.. poor green conditions :(
The course layout was great.. but the conditions of the green were horrible.. they had almost no grass on them.. it was just sand "painted" green.. and they had all these small little weeds popping up everywhere on the greens
All the green areas around the parking lot was nothing but weeds.. overall the course just doesnt look as great as it really is
Agree completely. All of the greens were a joke. Won't return until I hear otherwise.
