Friday Falls-in-Texas WX & Golf
Wedgwood is a hidden gem; extraordinarily helpful staff and a challenging course of rolling terrain, woods, sand and water. Will play there again; great value.
Interesting Layout
First time to play the layout at Wedgewood in over 4 years. I really like this layout. Its tight and requires you to think through your round, but the properly executed shot will be rewarded. The fairways, rough, and greens are playable. but they aren't the best conditions in the area. Our groups carts were not in the best shape. One had a parking break that did not release easily and the other had the GPS system malfunction from the get go. Overall, the layout is worth navigating the average course conditions if you want to play a course that will make you think about each shot more than choosing the driver and gouging a wedge.
More than long drives required!!! Bring your Iron Game
You will use irons in your bag you hardly touch... Enjoy the wildlife and surroundings... This course is challenging...
Getting Much Better
The Course is in Good shape but the number one improvement is that the carts are being equipped with Ipad s with GPS . Knowing the distance to the front center and back of the greens made a big difference .This course has a lot of holes that require that you lay up if you are hitting from the white T boxes . Use a driver only when necessary and you can score well.
Good layout, good value
The rough and generally grounds are not kept up very well. But the fairways, tee boxes and greens are in pretty good shape. Good layout with nice elevation changes.
Great course for challenges
Fairways are in great shape. Greens are very nice as well.
Wedgewood Golf Course
I have frequented this course multiple times throughout the past year. The staff is welcoming, friendly and very tentative. The course is always in top notch condition and pace if play is maintained throughout the day. It is a very long course for beginners with small fairways on some holes. Every hole posses a challenge every type of player.
Pretty challenging, bring extra balls
I finished business early in Houston, so on my way home to DFW, I looked online and got a deal on a tee time at 3:30. Unsure if I would have time for 18 before it got dark or T-storms moved in, I got off I-45 and found the course within 10 minutes. I managed to get in 18 in 3.25 hours, just as the rain started on 18. Interesting figure 8 layout on the top of a ridge. Bordered by forest on all sides, the fairways are not wide. Bring your precision game, and extra balls. There is also ample water. Greens were pretty well kept for a public course. There were some fairway areas marked off, under maintenance. They have a free course guide book at the check-in that was very helpful. Don't go if the temp is over 90. Very uncomfortable for the first 5 holes, until it clouded over and a breeze came in, then nice. Lots of elevation change, but not drastic. Most water hazards looked like stagnant pools where water was not natural, but pumped in. Deer, bunnies, a coyote, turtles were seen. There was housing construction going on behind some trees near a couple of the holes. Overall, quite enjoyable. I will definitely play it again, Sam.
Had a blast
This is a beautiful course. I recommend it. It was not too crowded. The players and staff were both friendly. The course was challenging and we'll kept. No complaints here.
This course offers a lot for a great price
This course offers a great challenge for all types of players.
A gem of a course
I was attending professional training in the area and took advantage of a hot deal on GN. I am glad I did, because this course is beautiful! I was the last tee time of the day, and never saw another player until the light began to fail and I called it a day.
For a beginner like me, hole number three (par 3 surrounded by water and two bunkers guarding the uphill approach) was mentally intimidating. Imagine my elation when I cleared the water and planted firmly in the sand... Clearly, my game did not match the beauty or complexity of this course, however you can rest assured, I'll play Wedgewood anytime I'm close to Conroe.
Great Value.
I have played here several times. The course was in good condition - the greens were much better than my previous visit (just a little slow for my liking). The course is always challenging, which would be good for any level of golfer.
Love the layout
I really enjoy playing this course. The course is a big loop, so you need to make sure that you have the phone number of the course if you want some food or drink other than water. Lots of blind shots deep sand and water that you need to stay away from. Good course to use most of the clubs in your bag.
Great Golf
great for the money. Tee boxes a bit worn. Most of the front 9 greens were being treated with sand on them. Over all....great deal for the buck....
Pack a Lunch
Course was in decent shape but be prepared to spend all day to play. Pace was 5 hours with waiting on every tee, every fairway. Course staff was even shadowing the groups ahead but did nothing to speed up play
Great experience
I've played Wedgewood a lot and have always enjoyed it.
Wedgewood Golf
some very difficult holes but the trees and homes lining along the fairway can take your mind off how you are olaying
Awesome
Wedgewood is a very nice course, It can be tight in places and it also opens up as well. Greens can be small and challenging. It is a must play !!!!
