Need more grass . Fairway look a concrete but it I'd just for a relaxing day .
Low fees
I loved the layout of the course. The fairways were below average but tolerable. I would say that the greens is what makes this course not worth playing. there are tuffs of grass, no grass and sand all over. Ball will hop or deflect when you putt. They really need to hire a greens keeper to increase players.
green were bumpy, fairways were bare
the fairway are so uneven, there is no good place to hit it
Good value
This is a challenging course with lots of dogleg holes. The fairways were generally in good shape but many areas on the edges and near the greens still needed the grass to thicken up -- lots of places where the ball was on hard packed dirt. Challenging greens and lots of elevation changes and narrow fairways.
Just a good course for average to hacker players
The greens need a little help which would make it a little more enjoyable.
Rude Koreans
There were 4 foursomes and one five some all Koreans. They were loud and would not play. We were a twosome and went around two foursomes that seemed to be playing together. The next group proceeded to tell us they were having a tournament. The front desk and starter were not aware of any tournament. The last group we passed was four women that got upset when we went around. They hit into our twosome several times. I will never be back. I wouldn't golf there if it were free. Our pace of play is around 3-1/2 hours and were were there over five hours just to try to get the round in and gold the holes we missed.
Fun course
Layout very interesting with a variety of hole configurations. Some holes very challenging. Variety of tees allow for people to choose their degree of difficulty. One of the best layouts in the area.
Overall a good value for money.
Elevation Changes!
This course is far enough north of Houston that there are plenty of natural elevation changes that aren't typical closer to town. The course was in as good of shape as one can expect for early February, and it was easy to see that there would be plenty of nice grass to hit from in the fairways and rough during the spring, summer, and fall.
Challenging, fun, nice greens
Wedgewood is a challenging layout with plenty of hills and valleys to keep things interesting. This is definitely a thinking course as shot placement is very important on many holes. But, once you get the flow of the course, you really appreciate the attention to detail in the course design. The greens are great as well. Now, walking is a bit challenging. If you are in reasonable shape, it is not a problem. Just don't make this a new year's resolution to start walking.
I'm coming back!
Don't get fool by the facility entrance. This course is very good, it has everything and the staff make this place special. The only issue you will have is to take an extra minute on your blind shots to make sure nobody is in front of you.
Some spectacular holes. Water came into play frequently. Greens were fast and in good condition.
Our first time at Wedgewood and it proved to be an enjoyable experience. We felt we would like to play it again to have a go at the more difficult holes. We are visiting from England and have no time unfortunately. We were offered a course planner which we appreciated and was very helpful.
Perfect day on the course
The course was in great shape, with the exception of a couple tee boxes, which were void of grass. Everything else was in great shape. You just couldn't ask for a better day on the course!
Bring every club you have
This course is not easy to play, you need every club in the bag. Don't let the yardage fool you. Lots of elevation changes as well as some blind shots. It only gets a little easier after you've played it several times. Greens are slightly slower than what I'm used to. This is definitely not a driver/7-iron course.
Great course, grat staff
I really enjoy this course, it can play both easy and tough. Several blind tee shots, and a lot of contour to the fairways. This course is not forgiving if you can't keep it the fairway. The greens are fast, and probably in good condition for a muni, but are not up to resort standards in visual appearance. Some erosion is becoming apparent at different spots around the course,MIT could use some repairs to a couple of bulkheads where the stonework has coo lapsed.
In short a moderate to tough layout that may run your average up if you can't adapt and place your shots - I love it!!
Fantastic, but challenging
Course has a very interesting layout with lots of dog legs and shots you have to hit certain yardages off the tee or you're in trouble. Lots of 250 yards to the end of fairways, which presents issues if you're slightly longer than that with tee shots. The problem is, lots of times, if you hit to 250 yards, you still have very long shots to the greens, which are challenging to begin with.
It's a tough course, but in a great location, with friendly staff, and very well maintained conditions. For the price, it feels like a private course.
Good course for the money
The course was in fairly good shape. A few of the holes had major maintenance going on but other than that it was well maintained. The course staff was really friendly and helpful.
Very nice course for the price
Wedgewood is a very nice and well maintained course, especially for the price. The course is very challenging with plenty of doglegs and tons of downhill slopes to contend with.
Challenging and fun layout
This was my first visit to Wedgewood.....played as a single and had no problems playing quickly. Club house staff and marshals very friendly. Course has a number of tight fairways, blind shots and lots of trees. Might want to keep your driver in the bag unless you need the distance. Requires good club management. Fairways and greens are very well groomed, and greens run fast and true. The rough is troublesome and a little thick in spots. Yardage book is helpful, but still found trouble on a few holes. Would like to have had some course knowledge. Take enough drinks/snacks since there is no turn at the clubhouse. Will definitely play when I get another chance.
Great for playability. Close to home.
Great course for the money. Great staff and range.
